You have shared some very good info here. I found these tips very interesting and will surely try them and refer them to my friends. The latest update to Developer is very nice BUT the VPN is still leaking my true IP address.



I thought that this was fixed with update 38. Features such as data-saving, ads blocker and sites unblock are enough for me and I am very grateful of that to say that Opera now becomes one of my prime browser in my office. I tried whatismyip and its showing VPN IP. Dont use turbo setting as it seems to revert back to local IP and maybe also uncheck proxy settings under vpn in opera settings.

Dont know the latter helps or not. I download the Opera 38. The fix will come with the next update! Unfortunately we had a nasty bug when clicking VPN icon on OS X 10. Yesterday we released new version, 39. Tried it on two sites. Any mods here have any solution for this? My browser is up to date with the latest 39. Things were working pretty well before the update (when the VPN still runs in the non-private window).



I cannot choose location. Before the change I can choose ip location VPN. Now i am uninstalling it. Too bad opera no longer downloads torrents.

They put in a vpn but got rid of torrents so you still have to get a separate vpn client for torrents. Some Users wanted to use VPN only on some pages, so we moved it to private mode. Remember that this is developer version, not stable.



There is no way to open Opera in private window by default. I want security per default and not as an option I have to remember every time to activate.

Maybe you could make it configurable in options so that one can choose wether to always have it on per default in the regular browser or to have to activate it every time you want to use itPlease add VPN as an option to normal browser windows, and please make it optionally a default setting. Being forced to use private browsing if I want vpn, it is really inconvenientNope , did the same and still an empty list and stuck on connecting. I thought this was supposed to be free. So why do you need my credit card information?



Opera free-unlimited feature is currently tested only in developer builds (version 39) and you are using version 37 links to developer builds are in the article (at the bottom) if you want to try itOpera developer automatically installed an update and now I have to use VPN in a private window instead of my normal browsing window, and while in the private window, I can not use the ad block. I was in love with the version where I could use the VPN and adblock at the same time. Why was this changed? No virtual hosts in list so always stuck on connecting.



Not great… back to Vivaldi! So I install Opera from another page link and then try to repeat above but still nothing happens!



Then when I clicked on the install file, it started right up. I uninstalled Opera Developer (using AppCleaner to make sure I got everything) and then reinstalled the latest version downloaded from the website. When I agree to use VPN in the private window, it hangs when connecting and the drop down country list is empty. Can someone from Opera please give us some response?



I decided to try this. It keeps saying connecting continuously and it never actually does. My connection is very much faster with this VPN disabled. Why oh why are you people using a developer version and come to all those grandiose pessimistic conclusions about Opera being shit overall or Opera VPN being shit or whatever?!



But then I thought I could get used to the private window VPN, but it never resolves any web addresses. Installed, uninstalled, clean install but no go. Nice try Opera but a waste of time. The use of a VPN masks your true location from the places you access.



For instance, right now Google and every site I visit shows that I am located somewhere in Florida. However, I am nowhere near Florida and when I disconnect and connect again later I will have a new IP address, maybe from Rhode Island.



When these IP address are investigated they will turn up with zero subscriber information. Google will have no idea how to track you as you can constantly change the public IP you use and you are anonymous.



When you want to browse anonymously select anonymous in your browser, log out of yahoo and google, use vpn. Do you use Opera Internet Browser with built-in VPN? This built-in VPN is for free. We do not ask for subscription. Maybe you clicked SurfEasy or some other ad or extension?



With the Opera VPN on, the page does not work as expected. Take this very page. Out of curiosity, how did Opera size this service, in other words, how many concurrent users does it support?



I anticipate that many people will turn to Opera with this cool feature, but afraid that it will die from its success as too many people try to use it. Moreover, not even a single recognition of the issue from Opera despite multiple complaints. As said, they are investigating the problem.



It affects only a few percentage of the users and seems to not be that easy to reproduce. BTW, some people reported that the issue was solved for them after the anti-virus has been disabled or changed.



The Swedish program of MagineTV has stopped being sent via Opera VPN from one day to another (I live in Switzerland). Before that, it worked perfect.
